A Sad StoryWhen I woke up, I was groggy.  My head was throbbing slightly, but other than that, I was pretty numb.  I couldn’t see out of one eye, my ears were ringing, and my nose felt cool.  I blinked, as my cloudy vision cleared slightly.  There were a tubes coming out of my arm and my nose and my left arm, the one with the IV, was in traction.  Over the ringing, I realized I could hear a repetitive beeping.  A nurse came in and then leaned out the door.  “Doctor, he’s awake,” I think she said.   “Thank you, nurse.  You may go.”  A Sad Story

More Paul and WillPaul slid silently into his dark bedroom, careful not to wake Sharon.  With barely a month to go, she needed her sleep.  He was beginning to hate his job, especially the hours that kept him away from home.  He began to undress in the dark, leaving the light off for fear of waking his very pregnant wife.  Paul hung up his jacket in the closet, tossed his polo in the hamper, and hung his shoulder-holster on the corner of the headboard, making sure his Mk. 23 was within easy reach.  He climbed into bed after removing his jeans, and turned to his wife, laying one hand on her stomach.   & More Paul and Will
